Editor's review
This is a software tool for converting from one audio format to another and editing these sound files.
This is a sound editor that uses waveform display so that the cut-paste paradigm of editing could be used and even novices would be able to carry out efficient editing. This tool works with WAV and MP3 file formats. The well known Lame codec is used for creating the compressed MP3 format. Conversions between these two formats are easily done. All the standard sample rates of 8000, 11025, 12000, 16000, 22050, 24000, 32000, 44100, 48000 Hz are supported. Bits per sample used can be chosen to be 8 or 16 bits. You will be able to use either mono or stereo channels. Zoom function to precisely decide cursor position to select a start/end point is available. That will ensure the selection is precise.
Color use makes the interface quite interesting. It is easy enough for most users. The vertical presentation of the waveform is a little counter-intuitive. We are so used to elapsed time extending to the right of the graph that this will take some getting used to. The waveform display has three options; lines, bars and shadow. The “lines” is the typical waveform display we all are used to. The “bars” represent bars displaying amplitude and “shadow” display is a shadowed version of the waveform display. The tool is able to record audio and apply some effects that include changing the recording speed etc. This is a good product with useful features. If you were looking for a product like this, this could be a good candidate to try out.
